Koabi Bears beat South America to advance to SI Spanish League Final

KORABI BEARS – South America 4:0 (2:0)

Staten Island, August 19, 2007 – In the semi-final game of the SI Spanish League at the Greenbelt Recreation Center this afternoon, Korabi faced a very tough South America team and won by the score of 4:0. It was a very hard fought and physical game with several yellow cards issued to both sides.

Korabi began the scoring in the 35th minute when Abdullah Begaj received a pass at the top of the box and put a right footed shot in the net. In the 40th minute it was Begaj again who was able to get his foot on a loose ball to increase the lead to 2:0.

In the second half, both sides a had a number of scoring opportunities and in the 80th minute after a few short passes Mark Shkreli scored to make the score 3:0 and put the game out of reach. Shortly after his first goal Shkreli intercepted a pass from the now disoriented South America defense and put in his second score of the game.

Next Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the final, Korabi will face the Union Latinos, 3:0 winners over Peru, in today’s other semi-final game.

Please come out and support Korabi.
