Greenbelt Recreational Center, Staten Island, NY – Sept 14, 2008 –Korabi Extra won its second consecutive Staten Island Spanish Soccer League championship outplaying and easily beating Manchester United.
Korabi dominated the entire game and were clearly the better team. Azmir Dzemoski started the scoring with an early goal and Abdulla Begai followed with a goal of his own shortly after to give Korabi an early two goal lead. Korabi became very comfortable and squandered many attacks, but did not get discouraged as Adam Hussein scored to increase the lead to 3-0. In the later part of the first half Abdulla Begai scored his second goal of the game to give Korabi a very comfortable four goal lead.
With a large lead Korabi began using the substitutes and within the first 10 minutes of the second half the bench was emptied, giving all substitutes an opportunity to contribute and showcase their skills in an effort to break into the firs team. Early in the second half Robert Mela scored to increase the lead. Benny Harmon moved up from his defensive role to score off a corner kick. Robert Mela finished the scoring for Korabi scoring his second goal midway through the second half. Manchester United got on the scoreboard late in the game with three unanswered goals but it was too late.
Many thanks to all of the Korabi supporters.
