SUPER KORABI
Korabi, from the CSL’s Metro Div. One, blanked New York Greek-American/Atlas reserves 2-0 in the Open Division final.
Save for a goalless tie with Metro Div. One rivals BW Gottschee, Korabi were in a class of their own in the Open Division.
They won Group A with victories over Shamrock [3-0] and Emeralos [2-1] to finish with the best overall record in their division [7 pts, better than Gottschee on goal difference] and earn a bye to the semis.
Azmir Dzemovski, Felipe Sales and Berat Islami scripted the win over Shamrock; with Sales – later named the Open Division MVP — and Albert Ruci decking Emeralos.
In the semis, Korabi crushed First Division Lansdowne Bhoys 4-0 on goals by Adam Hussien, Beck Papraniku, Ruci and Dzemovski.
Hussein and Ruci then capped a glorious day for Rusty Papraniku’s lads by seeing off another Division One side, Greek-Atlas reserves, 2-0 in the final.
