 Metro-1 Division East

KORABI – CD Iberia 2-2 (1-1)
Goals: Azmir Dzemoski, Ilir Papraniku

Staten Island, NY – October 16, 2011 – The Metro Derby between both undefeated division leaders ended in a draw.

The visiting CD Iberia scored on a defensive blunder two minutes into the game to take the lead. Three minutes later Azmir Dzemoski returned the favor to even the score at one apiece. The rest of the game was primarily played in the midfield with both teams being careful in not taking any risks.

The second half was also a tactical one with the host attacking earlier in the half but the visitors defended well to keep the score tied. Later in the half CD Iberia was awarded a free kick outside the penalty box and as the Korabi defense was setting up, the CD Iberia player shot the ball in the net and the referee signaled it a goal. The Korabi players pleaded to referee to no avail.

At this point coach Rusty decided to go all or nothing and instructed the players to press and push forward looking to equalize and in the 88th minute it finally paid off as Ilir Papraniku scored on a shot from 35 yards out that hit the crossbar and went into the net.

At the end of the game both sides were relieved and it seemed like a realistic outcome to a very tough game for both sides.
