Brooklyn, NY – April 3, 2011 – Korabi traveled to Brooklyn in hopes of getting revenge for a bad loss two weeks earlier only to get beat again, and again minus a goalkeeper.

Brooklyn, NY – March 27, 2011 – Korabi traveled to Brooklyn only to have the referee determine that the poor field conditions were not safe and therefor postopne the game.

KORABI – Tesoro Kings FC 2-5 (0-3)
Goals: Albert Ruci (2)

Staten Island, NY – March 20, 2011 – It was very evident that the reason for this disappointing loss was the missing players, most notably the goal keeper.

The visitors scored in the opening minutes of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Korabi was awarded a penalty in the 15th minute only to have it saved by the visiting keeper. Tesoro scored in the 35th minute and again in the 40th minute to take a commanding 3-0 lead into half time.

The second half started promising as Korabi was awarded a penalty and this time converted to cut the lead by one. Tesoro did not let up, kept on the attack and scored in the 60th minute to increase their lead to 4-1. In the 80th minute, Albert Ruci scored his second goal of the game to cut the deficit to 4-2 but Tesoro came right back to score minutes later to complete the scoring.

Hazlet – KORABI Veterans 3-3 (1-2)

Hazlet, NJ – March 20, 2011 – Korabi Veterans start Spring with a tie.

The game looked promising from the start as Korabi took control of the game early with good midfield play and frequent attacks. Kujtim Kaziu scored in the 15th minute to give Korabi a 1-0 lead. 10 minutes later Hazlet were awarded a penalty but goalkeeper Faton Papraniku “Tonçe” made a brilliant save to preserve the lead. Kujtim Kaziu scored his second goal of the game at the half hour to give Korabi a 2-0 lead. Korabi kept attacking without much luck, hitting the post twice and the crossbar twice. Hazlet was awarded a second penalty right before halftime and converted to come within one goal.

In the second half the referee failed to award a penalty for Korabi on two occasions and this seemed to take the wind out of Korabi’s sail. In the 60th minute Hazlet scored to tie the score at 2-2. Fisnik Daci scored in the 75th minute to put Korabi ahead 3-2 but not for long as Hazlet was once again awarded a penalty and converted to tie the game at 3-3.

Considering the way Korabi played today, the result was very disappointing.

KORABI – NYPD FC 3-1 (1-1)
Goals: Adam Hussein, Arti Mela, Albert Ruci

Staten Island, NY – March 13, 2011 – An excellent start to the Spring season, Korabi pick up where they left off, with a win over one of the top teams in the Metro-1 Division.

Korabi started out strong, but unable to make their efforts count, missing plenty of chances to take the lead. At the 35 minute mark the NYPD squad took a 1-0 lead, converting a penalty awarded when one of their players was fouled inside the box. Coach Rusty was relentless on the sidelines and urged his team to press forward and this paid off in the final minutes of the first half as Adam Hussein blasted a shot from 20 yards out to tie the score at 1-1.

It seemed as if the goal at the end of the first half put a damper on the NYPD as they came out flat in the second half. In the 55th minute Arti Mela scored on a deflection in front of the NYPD goal to put Korabi in front 2-1. The third goal was a beauty as Albert Ruci took a pass on the left flank, beat his defender and put a low shot off the crossbar for a 3-1 lead and the final score.

This was a very hard fought and well deserved win for the Metro=1 Division leaders Korabi who hope to keep on winning and possibly move up to the Second Division.

KORABI – Missile FC 4:0 (3:0)
Goals: Ridvan Mehmeti, Albert Ruci, Inka, Shpend Kaja

Staten Island, NY – December 5 2010 – On a cold Sunday afternoon Korabi defeated Missile FC with a score of 4:0 at the new Broadway field in Staten Island. The win keeps Korabi on top of Metro-1 league with 21 points and a good sign after two consecutive losses, in State Cup competition and in Metro-1 league against Mr. Dennehey’s.

Korabi started pressuring Missile FC and on the 12th minute a cross from Berat Islami found Albert Ruci who unselfishly laid a back pass to newcomer Ridvan Mehmeti whose shot found the net for a 1:0 lead and an excellent start with his new team. Five minutes later Albert Ruci broke through on the left side and increased the lead to 2:0, and then Inka tallied for a 3:0 lead. On the 38th minute a penalty was called against Korabi, but a great diving save by Korabi goalkeeper Ozzie, kept the shutout alive at the first half.

In the second half the game was pretty even until the 81st minute when a Berat Islami pass found Shpendi Kaja breaking in and a left footed low shot beat Missile goalkeeper and increased the Korabi lead to 4:0. Missile FC had a couple of flurries late in the game with one hitting the left side post and one going wide to the right before the game ended.

As always, the game against Missle FC turns out to be a physical game and a great effort in standing up to the physical part of the game were midfielders Agim, Albert, Darien, Felipe, Berat and defenders Russo, Ridvan and Inka in helping Ozzie keep the shutout.

Wall, NJ – December 5, 2010 – The Veterans continue playing well and seem to have rediscovered their scoring touch, at least for now.
